POSITION DESCRIPTION
VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCE AND OPERATIONS
Position Purpose:
In this senior level position, the Vice President, Finance and Operations will participate on the Senior Staff Committee, report directly to the President, and interface with the Board as the President deems necessary.
The Vice President will plan and manage the back-room (financial and operational) side of the organization (including various financial, technological and human resource systems and procedures) in order that all departments at The Community Foundation can function in an efficient, effective and financially responsible manner, now and as The Community Foundation grows. The Vice President will oversee management of The Community Foundation’s investment securities in accordance with the investment policy objectives and guidelines for both unitized and non-unitized accounts, involving strong working relationships with the Investment Committee, Investment Managers and Investment Consultants.
Essential functions of Position:
· Oversee and direct the financial framework and internal controls for The Community Foundation in a manner that is readily understood and adhered to by all supervisors and staff.
· Oversee the management of The Community Foundation’s assets, limiting risk while maximizing long-term investment returns of the organization.
· Identify and develop expanded financial opportunities for revenue achievement and expense control to further support the financial needs of the organization.
· Oversee the planning and development of technology systems that integrate all segments of the organization that are responsive to the needs of staff, donors and grantees and that enable The Community Foundation to function at optimal achievement levels.
· Plan, develop and implement human resources processes, procedures and training programs that are responsive to staff needs and treat all staff in a fair and equitable manner.
· Manage The Community Foundation’s real estate holdings, responsibly covering all potential exposures while accommodating the needs of the service providers that are dependent on the availability of the facilities.
· Oversee the day-to-day management related to the organization’s office space, furniture, equipment and supplies.
· Develop a long-term, strategic financial assessment related to all major decisions affecting the organization, including operating budgets and strategic plans.
· Develop and maintain a crisis management plan.
Responsibility Level:
The Vice President, Finance and Operations reports directly to the President. The Vice President is expected to be a strategic partner and to direct, facilitate and evaluate all financial and operational activities.
Performance Standards:
The Vice President, Finance and Operations will be evaluated on his/her ability to effectively perform the essential functions of the position; the ability to utilize the skills, and qualifications described below; the ability to meet annual individual and departmental goals; the ability to complete projects and assigned tasks in an accurate, cooperative, and timely manner; the ability to set realistic priorities; the quality of financial and operational management skills; and the professionalism in interactions with staff, trustees and community members. The Vice President, Finance and Operations will be evaluated by the President.
Qualifications:
Experience: 8 to 10 years experience as CFO or Financial Executive
Education: Accounting and/or Finance degree and CPA.
