JOB DESCRIPTION
This position will be responsible to direct and manage the day to day activities for the accounting department and assist management with financial research analysis and special projects. The Controller provides both operational and programmatic support to the organization. This position will also directly assist the CEO and President on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis and forecasting needs.
Responsibilities include:
Develop and Manage Business Planning and Analysis
Conduct and oversee planning and analysis
Perform research and in-depth financial analysis to identify risks, issues, trends, variances, etc.
Assess existing financial models/conclusions
Perform extensive planning and analysis of operations and develop new ideas to help the company grow and realize its strategic plan
Participate in developing new business, specifically: assist the CEO and COO in identifying new funding opportunities, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery.
Provide meaningful, useful and insightful information to help drive the company to new heights and achieve its strategic goals
Develop and Implement Comprehensive Accounting and Financial Reporting Systems
Oversee/develop monthly/annual budgets, billing, payables, purchasing, payroll, inventory control and departmental expenses
Develop and prepare a management reporting package which details key performance indicators for the organization
Perform forecasting for the company
Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.
Create and analyze monthly financial statements, financial analysis and modeling in support of business development and operations
Manage the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
Manage the Accounting Department and Personnel and Support Other Departments as needed
Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans.
Implement sound accounting policies and procedures to help safeguard company assets
Supervise a staff of five professionals that handle the day to day accounting: accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, payroll, month end and year end closings, etc.
Conduct supervision, training, performance reviews and ongoing hiring as needed
Assist in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage incentives, commissions, and salaries for the staff.
Oversee business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum of (6) years CPA experience required
Experience in working capital management, inventory accounting, financial reporting, income statement/balance sheet preparation and review required
Demonstrated operating competencies in cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning, and various accounting software packages required
Minimum of two (2) years management experience required
Experience in a big 4 firm is strongly desired
