Job Description:
Responsible for all international tax functions including international tax planning, preparation of the international sections of the US tax returns, coordination of the worldwide tax compliance and international aspects of the tax provision. Participates in tax planning for international mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings. Consults with and advises financial, legal, and operating management on international tax matters.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Prepare the foreign tax credit calculations on a quarterly basis and as needed to determine the impact on financial statements and plan for the repatriation of foreign earnings.
* Work closely with the International Finance and Accounting groups to advise on foreign tax laws and assist in assuring compliance with foreign tax laws.
* Ensure all foreign entities are properly accruing the local country tax provision for quarterly financial statements.
* Develop and implement systems to compile information for US federal and international reports.
* Ensure timely and accurate filing of returns
* Recommend ways to minimize corporate tax through use of tax laws and regulations.
* Develop appropriate tax planning initiatives and recommendations to place the company in the most effective tax posture
* Direct the tax compliance activities to meet all external return filing due dates as mandated. Works with foreign tax authorities to ensure compliance with all federal, state, city and foreign tax laws.
* Provide the controller's department with tax accounting and details to close the accounting books and to complete various financial forecasts and outlooks.
* Coordinate and help manage all tax examinations by foreign governmental auditors and resolve the tax issues in the most cost-effective manner.
* Become involved in foreign acquisitions and corporate structuring to create the most tax efficient transaction for the company.
* Keep current with new tax laws, regulations and positions taken by the major taxing authorities, determine their effect on the company and advise management of any major impacts.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business finance, or related field
5 - 10 years of progressive international professional experience in an accounting and taxation capacity
An MBA and/or CPA required. A JD is a plus
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex financial documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to define problems and collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions
