Job Summary:
Directs credit activities within a specific region. Responsible for implementation of credit strategy, policies and procedures to ensure soundness, diversification, liquidity and maximum earnings for the region. Oversees loan structuring and approval, underwriting and appraisal activities. Responsible for loan approval within a specified amount, as determined by Synovus Financial Corp.'s credit policies and risk guidelines.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
¦ Directs credit activities within the region to ensure soundness, diversification, liquidity and maximum earnings. Consults with loan officers and approves large and complex loans, above bank loan limits. Participates in the structuring of loans. ¦ Performs ongoing reviews of region's loan portfolio and approves commitments within overall guidelines and limits, either independently or as part of a loan committee. Reviews underwriting to ensure adherence to policies and procedures. ¦ Performs comprehensive studies of debt structure, conducting credit reviews and evaluating risk of specific transactions. ¦ Develops regional forecasts of portfolio trends based on the housing market, vacancy rates, absorption rates, and general economic trends. ¦ Evaluates the credit portfolios of potential acquisitions and participates in price determination. ¦ Monitors and ensures accuracy of loan loss reserve. ¦ Oversees and ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations. ¦ Reviews and oversees underwriting and structuring the largest and most complex loan structures and accounts. ¦ Manages activities of the Regional Credit department. Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, discipline of employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Works with the Human Resources Department to resolve more complex employee related issues. ¦ Performs other duties as assigned.
