Opportunity
The Dekalb County Schools Capital Improvement Program is searching for a candidate to fill the position of Project Control Manager.
The Project Control Manager develops, manages, and/or executes all phases of the project controls effort (planning/scheduling, cost control and estimating) for a large and demanding K-12 construction program. The candidate utilizes widely diversified knowledge of project control activities, and draws upon extensive experience and exposure to education market projects and clients. Supports the development, implementation and training of program procedures as required.
Provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance to Program Director for the resolution of difficult and complex project control problems. Interfaces with clients, contractors and architects, attends regular program, project and client team meetings, and provides status reports as required.
Manages a unique team of Project Control Engineers/Specialists who are qualified to analyze, evaluate, and forecast project costs, as well as performance against an established baseline schedule with critical milestones. Assesses the impact(s) of design/construction changes and schedule slippages. Oversees the development and maintenance of an established project system to show the hierarchy of plans and schedules; keeps project and company management fully informed.
Using the program master schedule as a basis, work with the program team and client to develop a program cash flow.
Works with the Program Director coordinating staffing requirements, assigns and supervises project work activities, and trains personnel. Completes performance reviews and provides personnel development for the assigned employees.
Oversees the development and maintenance of the document control system for the program.
Prepares financial reports and invoices in support of the program and Project Director.
Recommends and oversees the customization of project control systems to meet specific project and client requirements.
Develops and creates weekly, monthly and special reports for the client and program management staff to monitor progress and status of the program.
Supports business development efforts by providing input for proposals and making presentations, as required.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications
Requirements
4-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management, 10 years of related experience, as well as experience in a managerial capacity. Experience in program controls and construction management of large K-12 construction programs. Experience as a Project Controls Manager in at least (2) relevant verifiable projects that have utilized Primavera (P6) and Contract Manager/IMPACT. The candidate must be a certified Project Controls Manager or be capable of completing the certification process within one year of hire. Also requires the ability to communicate and work well with others; Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish company objectives; Effective oral and written communication skills; position requires working at the Tucker, GA office location.
