The College of Arts and Sciences at Clayton State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice to begin Fall 2010. We are particularly interested in a generalist with research and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: Gender and Crime; Juvenile Delinquency and Juvenile Justice; Policing; Courts and Sentencing. The position requires 24 semester hours of undergraduate teaching per year, and the candidate must have a PhD in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely related discipline in-hand before August, 2010. Candidates should also have evidence of superior teaching and successful scholarship, as well as experience working with diverse student and community populations. The advising and mentoring of undergraduate Criminal Justice majors are essential responsibilities. Success in pursuing externally funded research opportunities is desirable, as is experience or interest in working with graduate students. Salary will be commensurate with experience and competitive with comparable programs.

The Criminal Justice major is housed in the Department of Social Sciences and Criminal Justice is one of the 5 largest majors in the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition, a graduate program in Criminal Justice is anticipated in the near future.
