SUMMARY:
Entry level claim handling position.
DUTIES:
* Answers claims customer telephone calls.
* Takes new claim loss reports and enters data into claims systems. Sets up new claim files.
* Working under close supervision, helps interpret the insurance contract and applies to the exposures presented with each claim.
* Working under close supervision, helps to investigate all issues to determine cause, scope, damages, and subrogation potential.
* Working under close supervision, manages an inventory of assigned claim files of a minor to moderate nature to ensure timely resolution of all assigned claims. Maintains files in an organized manner. Documents all activity to support the outcome of the claim file.
* Working under close supervision, helps to evaluate and negotiate the resolution of claims, while mitigating damages, to achieve cost effective claim outcomes.
* Working under close supervision, assists with the control of allocated expenses to the claim file.
* Working under close supervision, directs, controls, and manages the work of vendor partners to ensure their work meets our quality expectations.
* Operates in a team environment. Supports other team members to enhance overall team productivity.
* Participates in committees or special projects.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
* Regular, predictable attendance required.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
INTERNAL: Claim Sr. Management, Claim Handlers, Claim Support Staff, IT staff and Management, Human Resources, Product Management, Policy Services and others.
EXTERNAL: Customers, Customer Representatives, Vendors and trading partners.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
* 4-year college degree, and/or progress toward completion of professional insurance designations, and/or relevant experience preferred.
* Satisfactory test results that indicate ability to perform at a Claims Representative level in the future.
* Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
* Must register for, take and pass the adjuster licensing course for the State you reside in within 12 months of date of hire or promotion to Claim Representative Trainee.
Skill Based Claims Career Path
kStarting pay will be $35,700. An adjustment to $37,500 will be made provided the trainee has been in the position for more than 90 days, has successfully completed the Claims Basics and Homeowners Insurance Policy Basics courses, and is meeting or exceeding performance expectations. At the first performance review, no less than 6 months after the date of hire or promotion to the trainee position, it is anticipated a trainee meeting education, licensing, and performance expectations and requirements will have their salary adjusted to $39,500.
