We are looking for a seasoned, independent motivated and experienced Director, Prospect Management and Research to join our team.
Position Summary:
This position of Director, Prospect Management and Research develops and manages the prospect and donor research system to identify new and qualify current sources of private support. The Director actively facilitates the successful identification, cultivation and solicitation of prospects and donors. This position supports organizational fundraising priorities with a creative, inventive and integrated strategy. The position reports to the Associate Vice President of Resource Development Services and is a member of the Resource Development Leadership Team (RD SLT). The RD SLT is also responsible for departmental strategy and annual operating plan development and execution.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
APRA Membership and affiliation
Experience with and a deep understanding of philanthropy, fundraising programs and related strategies with proven ability to collaborate and organize fundraising activities effectively, prioritizing prospects and participating in high level strategies and gift discussions.
3+ years experience in prospect research with a proven track record of success in proactive and reactive prospect identification and research. Familiarity with electronic and hard copy research resources.
Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated understanding of database and spreadsheet software.
Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and proofreading and editing skills.
Demonstrated skills in project planning & implementation.
Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
Proven success in leading teams to maximize both short and long-term donor potential.
Proven ability to communicate skillfully and persuasively, both orally and in written form.
Proven ability to communicate these principles to non-fundraising professionals, Executives and Board members to ensure their understanding and support.
Proven ability to select and direct the use of fundraising information management technology.
Comprehensive management information systems experience and a proven track record of effective technological project planning and implementation, including policy development, end-user training and documentation.
Expert knowledge of wealth and giving capacity modeling and forecasting methodologies, data mining and analysis.
High level of computer proficiency required; must have working knowledge of major research databases and technology tools.
Desired Qualifications
Masters Degree or Higher
Work experience in lesser developed countries.
Proven ability to select and direct the use of fundraising information management technology.
Comprehensive management information systems experience and a proven track record of effective technological project planning and implementation, including policy development, end-user training and documentation.
Expert knowledge of wealth and giving capacity modeling and forecasting methodologies, data mining and analysis.
