DESCRIPTION: Responsible for managing the staff performing billing, follow up, cash application operations for Government and Non-Government payers. The functions to be performed are further outlined within the detail description below.
EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration or a related field is preferred. Prior experience in Hospital Government payer (Medicare and Medicaid) Billing leadership will be considered. Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Patient Accounts and Hospital Accounting Certification preferred; CPAR certification, Advanced CPAR or CPAM preferred. Significant five plus years experience with the following:
· Direct management resources within a PFS department with particular emphasis on government billing and follow up;
· Hands-on knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and Medicaid CMO billing regulations and experience with UB-04 and HCFA 1500 claim forms billing and follow up functions both electronic and manual;
· Hands-on knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 coding, HCPCS, revenue codes and terminology for hospital billing;
· Demonstrated service and success in team leadership, including team selection, performance evaluation, training and coaching.
Business knowledge and results oriented experience within PFS. Experience within a large academic teaching facility is desirable. Siemens INVISION or EPIC experience preferred. Relay Health ePREMIS claims edit system experience preferred. Experience streamlining processes, project planning and management. Demonstrated exceptional knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Suite skill set to include Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio. Highly motivated and detail oriented with excellent supervisory/management skills along with the ability to motivate all staff. Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to be flexible, work collaboratively among internal and external departments, as applicable to identify and help resolve enterprise-wide challenges. Demonstrated ability to effectively investigate, analyze and problem solve.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Are minimal, with occasional standing and walking; minimal lifting or other physical exertion. Requires close and distance vision, and the ability to talk, hear and manual dexterity. The work environment involves occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens and infectious diseases. The noise level is moderate.
