Come join and help shape the future for SaaS (OnDemand) software solutions at Ariba! The Ariba Platform Application Framework team is looking for a gifted, energetic, and seasoned Principal Software Engineer to join them in delivering on this vision. 

We are an innovative team focused on architecting the core frameworks used by hundreds of developers across Ariba to develop applications that can be delivered seamless in either a SaaS environment or installed behind the firewall in a single-tenant environment. Duties and Responsibilities: 
The Ariba application development framework is centered on a unique metadata driven model for defining business logic, workflow, rules, UI and external data integrations. This framework is complemented with the flexibility of a rich component model that can be seamlessly integrated with the metadata driven framework. All of this is SaaS ready, allowing our customers to further configure the business logic/UI from their browsers to meet their specific needs. 
Your job will be to play a critical role in the development of Ariba’s Application Framework.
Work with us to meet the disparate challenges posed by our diverse developer and end-user community. Evangelize and work closely with application teams across the entire Ariba Spend Management Suite on delivering the next generation of SaaS application development frameworks.

Day-to-day your job will be to work with a close, tight-knit team of talented and experienced developers to prototype, build, iterate on and ship great code.

Basic Minimum Qualifications:
• 7+ years experience developing production-grade web applications (Java preferred) 
• Excellent communication skills 
• Experience designing and building scalable and robust solutions in large web application deployments 
• Knowledge of metadata systems and object-relational mapping layers such as Hibernate or TopLink 
• BS or MS in CS or equivalent

• First-class object-oriented design and programming skills 
• Passion for understanding real-world requirements and creating software that exceeds expectations 
• An excellent problem-solver and an awesome team-player

• Quick-witted and curious
