Posting Job DescriptionQualifications: - BS in Computer Science or related field required; MS in Computer Science or related field preferred
- Seven or more years of application development experience
- At least five years of Java/J2EE experience including four or more years experience with J2EE application servers, recent experience with Spring, and/or five or more years of object-oriented JavaScript experience
- Strong working knowledge of XML/XSL, OO-JavaScript, HTML, and associated technologies
- At least three years experience building and delivering distributed systems that perform critical business or operational functions, preferably in a real- or near-real time environment
- Three or more years experience with digital video and audio systems development is preferred
- Candidates MUST demonstrate excellent object-oriented design skills
- Five or more years experience developing systems with Oracle, DB2 or MySQL. Candidates must have working knowledge of SQL and Hibernate
- Candidates capable of demonstrating experience in one or more of the following areas strongly preferred: database architecture, data modeling, user interface development, human factors, build/deployment management, or video coding.
- Experience with Apple computer development technologies (Objective C, Cocoa, Core Image, Quicktime, etc) would be beneficial.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (such as XP or Scrum) are preferred



Duties: The Senior Developer is a member of the CNN Broadcast Production Systems development team. This team builds and maintains mission-critical video production systems for the CNN television networks. Sample projects include media asset management systems, digital video archives, and catalog/search systems. The Developer will work closely with other members of the development team through the full systems lifecycle including requirements capture, design, development, testing, and deployment.

Qualified candidates will have previous experience building medium- to large-scale, "mission critical" production systems that directly support essential business or technical functions. Practical experience in the key disciplines of object-oriented software engineering including object-oriented design and programming, and the testing of object oriented systems is required. The developer is expected to have good system engineering skills (e.g., database design, application architecture, operating systems, networking, etc.) in addition to skills in application development.

Develop software in Java, J2EE technologies and object-oriented JavaScript AND/OR development in other environments such as Microsoft .Net., Apple OSX and Objective-C, and Linux (65%)
Provide third tier support for production issues (10%)
Database design and object-to-relational mapping (10%)
Agile/Scrum planning and process improvement (5%)
System architecture and design (10%)
